Nigeria: FAAN Partners Lagos on Tree Planting at Airport

Lagos — The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has collaborated with the Lagos State Government on a tree planting campaign around the airport.

The planting exercise which is an annual tree planting campaign is to visualize tree planting because of the numerous benefit associated with trees.

The Director for Environmental Services of FAAN Mrs. Grace Etomi said the trees planting is as indispensable activities because it beautifies the environment.

"We are made to understand that the exercise is a simultaneously going on all over Lagos. We at FAAN are delighted to join in the tree planting project by the state government", Etomi said.

She stated that tree planting apart from beautifying the environment, also serves purposes like controlling erosion, reduce noise and help to enrich the atmosphere.

According to her, tree planting provides a shed during intensive sunlight and ventilates the environment by enriching the atmosphere with oxygen.

She however commended the state government in restoring the lost glory of the Lagos Airport, adding that it was a welcome project aimed at beautifying the nation's number one international gateway entrance.
