THE Juliene Garises Sports Academy (JUGASA) will be launched at the Eldorado Secondary School in Khomasdal on Saturday.
The new academy will target boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 17.
Age groups that will be catered for are U/10, U/13, U/15 and U/17.
Founder Juliene Garises says the aim is to advance sports excellence among the youngsters, while at the same time educating them.
She says they will in future also have a team in the Khomas Under-17 Youth League.
She has already identified coaches such as Lucia 'Namtas' Haubas, Verona Kharuxas and Brave Gladiators coach Jacqui Shipanga who will offer technical assistance.
Garises says she wants to get the community, especially the parents, involved to make the academy a success.
For the registrations on Friday, parents need to take along their children's birth certificates and a N$100 registration fee.
Registration will be done between 08h00 and 09h00.
On Saturday, the children will play in seven-a-aide matches, which will serve as trials to select players who will form part of the academy.
There will be a braai and music performances, and various speakers will deliver motivational talks to the children.
