Bechem — The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has promised to make Ghana an industrialized country, with the establishment of, at least, a factory in each district of the country.

According to Nana Addo, the country cannot remain in the practice of selling its raw materials, without processing to add value for adequate revenue for development. Addressing supporters of the NPP at Bechem, as part of his eight-day tour of the Brong-Ahafo Region, the presidential candidate noted that the time had come to industrialise the country, and desist from selling its cocoa, timber, and other natural resources in their raw states, for diminutive incomes.

He said the establishment of factories in the districts, would offer jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the country, and help reduce poverty for rapid economic growth.

Nana Addo noted that the dream to industrialise the country, could be achieved with the effective engagement of the country's artisans and technicians, who are well-resourced. He revealed that the United Nations International Development Organisation (UNIDO) had instituted funds to support artisans and technicians.

He urged the country's artisans and technicians, as well as other private sector entrepreneurs, to take advantage of the UNIDO Funds and improve upon their works, to support the vision of industrialising the country.

Nana stated that the NPP was the only political party with credible programmes to develop the country, and called on the electorate to support the vision, by voting massively for the party in the December 7 elections.

He said pragmatic policies had been instituted for teachers, with their remunerations and other incentives being a priority, to ensure that teachers supported the new education reform.

According to Nana Addo, he did not come into politics to enrich himself, but to help develop the country in peace and unity, saying an election does not mean war, but a decision-taking process, so supporters of the NPP should desist from campaigns of insults.

He said the NPP had no intention of rigging the elections, as was being purported by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressing, "The NPP believes in free, fair and transparent elections, therefore, Ghanaians should not heed the falsehoods of the NDC."

He continued that the NPP had no interest in campaigns of lies, vilification and deceit, but the preaching peace and the truth, for the electorate to make informed choices, come December 7.

Nana had earlier visited market women at the Sunyani Central Market, and leaders and members of the various transport associations, where he promised to reconstruct the old Sunyani Market into a modern one, as well as construct a modern stadium for Sunyani, when NPP retains power.

At Chiraa, the presidential candidate promised to institute a pension scheme for farmers, as a measure of luring more people, particularly the youth, into agriculture.

There were large jubilant crowds to welcome the presidential candidate and his entourage, throughout his third day of the tour, which took them through Tanoso, Nsuta and Techiman, in the Techiman South Constituency and Bonsu, Donkronkwanta and Nkoranza, in the Nkoranza South Constituency.

Other places visited were Dromankese, Busunya Yefri and Kranka, in the Nkoranza North Constituency, as well as Tuobodom and Ofuman, in the Techiman North Constituency.
