A solid performance from Libya saw them run out 1-0 winners over Ghana in Tripoli in a 2010 World Cup qualifier, putting them firmly in control at the top of Group 5 with 12 points and only one game remaining.
This was new coach Milovan Rajevac's first official game in charge as Libya dominated the game from beginning to end.
Michael Essien limped out of the match with a knee injury in the 22nd minute. He was replaced by Stephen Appiah.
The Black Stars only chance of the match came through Junior Agogo, after he dribbled past 3 Libyan defenders, but fell over before taking his shot.
Ahmed Sa'ad was a thorn in the side of Ghana as he managed to shrug off his markers more than once to create a number of serious scoring chances.
The attacking midfielder finally broke the deadlock in the 84th minute to score the only goal. Nader Karah provided the assist for Sa'ad, who easily slotted home after the Ghanaian defence failed to clear the danger.
Ghana now holds second place with nine points, three ahead of Gabon. The Black Stars will need a win in their last game against Lesotho. While Libya, with their 12 points, should have one foot in the door.
