Zimbabwe: Stanbic Disqualified From Interbank Games

Harare — THE 38th edition of the annual Interbank Games reaches the knockout stage at Prince Edward School in the capital today.

More than 15 banks are expected to take part, but Stanbic Bank will not be one of them.

Stanbic were disqualified for allegedly fielding persons who were not their employees.

According to the rules of the games, only those that are employed by the participating bank can take part in the games.

Interfin and the People's Own Savings Bank withdrew from the games about a week before the start of the competition.

The games run for two consecutive weekends and tomorrow the competition will reach its climax with the finals.

There are 16 sporting discip lines, including football, volleyball, athletics, squash and basketball.

This year's edition of the games is being hosted by the Zimbabwe Allied Banking Group.
