Nigeria/South Africa: Mission Accomplished - Lulu

7 September 2008

NFF president, Sani Lulu says Saturday's win over South Africa's Bafana Bafana is mission accomplished.

Lulu said after the match in Port Elizabeth that they had impressed it upon the players to go through the entire qualifying race with total seriousness and the players have done just that.

"This was mission accomplished. We had impressed it on the players the need to go through the entire race with total seriousness and achieve distinction. We are very happy with the three points and above all, the dedication of the players."

Lulu added that they will still go all out with their full arsenal against Sierra Leone in the last match of the group.

"Every game is important to us and we will still go all out against Sierra Leone in the last game of the group," Lulu said.

Nigeria played Saturday's match without their captain, Nwankwo Kanu and vice captain, Joseph Yobo.

John Mikel Obi, Obafemi Martins and Emmanuel Okoduwa were also out through injuries.

With the win, Nigeria have fifteen points from five matches and have an October 11 date at home to Sierra Leone.
