Luanda — The electoral process in Angola is taking place in an exemplary way for Africa, similar to what happens in European countries, affirmed Friday in Luanda the head of the European Union (EU) observer mission, Luisa Morgantini.
Speaking to the press, at the end of the visit to eight polling stations in the capital, the Italian national said that she had observed mutual respect among citizens, either in the political campaign phase or in the voting process, as people are behaving in a civic manner.
"The most extraordinary is that everyone wants to vote without fear. It is positive and shows the normality of the process", she asseverated, adding that in the beginning she was disappointed at the delay registered in the opening of some polling stations, particularly in Luanda.
Throughout the country, the electorate will be spread out in 12,274 polling stations, with a total of 37,995 tables, assisted by 266,000 electoral agents.
At least 10 political parties and four coalitions are running for this second legislative poll. The first elections took place in 1992.
