Awka — NNAMDI Azikiwe University, Awka has established linkages with some renowned universities abroad in order to improve the quality of its academic programmes, the acting vice chancellor, Professor Boniface Egboka has said.

Addressing news men in his office, Egboka said that with measures being taken by the university, its ranking among universities in Africa and the world would greatly improve.

"Our medical students are now in New York Methodist Hospital, the United States of America (USA) on one semester posting. This exchange programme has been on for three years. We also have partnership with another University in the USA whose lecturers come here and our lecturers go there.

Again, the president of a university in Poland will be coming here this September for the same partnership arrangement. We are also working out a programme to have what we call Dispora programme where our people teaching in universities abroad are encouraged to come here and give lectures for two weeks. We pay their return tickets and take care of them while they organise seminars and symposia for us."
