Former Mount Cameroon FC midfielder, Eyong Tarkang Enoh, popularly known as Veron, has signed a two-year contract with Dutch club, Ajax Amsterdam.

Eyong left Mount Cameroon for a two-year spell at South African side, Ajax of Cape town, where he impressed so many European Soccer Managers and even won a nomination for Player of the Season in the South African Premiership.

Before signing for the Dutch side, the midfield kingpin played test matches at various clubs in Europe, spending time in countries like France, Denmark, Sweden and Israel.He would have signed for Portsmouth but according to the coach, Harry Redknapp, he was quite keen on the player, but work permit issues stalled the move.

"He won't get into the country unfortunately," Redknapp told the club's official website. "To get into England, you need to have played 75 percent of the recent games for your country and I am sure he hasn't done that."

After putting pen to paper for his new deal, the delighted Eyong told the press, "This has been my dreams ever since I was growing up in my country; that one day I shall see myself playing in Europe. I am happy that my dream has finally come true, I have signed for two years with Ajax Amsterdam and I want to use this opportunity of playing in Holland to join the Indomitable Lions."

Eyong also sung the praises of Ajax Amsterdam coach, Marco van Basten. "He is a nice and open-minded person. He was one of the best players for Holland and I hope to learn a lot from his experience as a player." He added.

Eyong Tarkang Enoh was born on March 23, 1986 in Kumba. He joined Mount Cameroon FC in 2003 from Division II club, Little Foot of Tiko. What actually facilitated his joining Mount Cameroon FC was his outstanding performances at the 2002 University Games were he emerged best player, while a student at the University of Buea.

The 22-year-old, while at Mount Cameroon FC, played with the Cameroon Cadet Lions squad.Ajax Cape Town spokesman, Shooz Mekuto, after the signing confirmed that Eyong who bossed their midfield as the anchor and was largely responsible for the club show for the Premiership last season will be lost to local football.

"He is a class player," said Mekuto, "I was not surprised that he featured among the finalists in the Footballer of the Year awards, let alone his new contract." He leaves with our blessings and we wish him the best of luck in his new adventure." Mekuto blessed Eyong.
