It's the show that supposedly celebrates African beauty and style, responsible for launching modelling careers for the likes of the Nigerian supermodel, Oluchi Onweagba, Botswana's Kaone Kario, and according to the M-net Director of Original Productions Carl Fischer, it was the first ever M-Net's cross continental project, and it's back on the prowl for Africa's finest.
M-Net Face of Africa is back searching for the ultimate African model. The search which has already started in Botswana will encompass 12 countries; Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, and according to the press release from Multi-Choice Uganda, DStv viewers will be able to watch the Face of Africa process from start to finish with M-Net screening three preliminary episodes in the run up to the finale which will be held on Saturday November 29.
The Ugandan auditions take place at Kabira Country Club today and the age requirement is between 16 and 24 years of age. Any aspiring models according to the PR and Communications Manager Helena Mayanja should utilise this chance. "This is a once in a lifetime chance for anyone who is interested in modelling."
The aspiring models will have to show proof of their identity, they will have to have a minimum height of 1.72m, maximum hip measurement of 96 cm and entrants should not have any existing modelling contract.
The scouting judges for this season will be the catwalk veteran from South Africa Andiswa Manxima, who will be helped by the 2005 winner Kaone Kario, who will bring her experience gained on the catwalk in front of the camera, and behind the scenes.
At the end of the 12 casting sessions, approximately 24 finalists will be selected to participate in the Model Boot camp, which is to be held in Zanzibar. From here, a selection team which will include the very first Face of Africa winner, supermodel Oluchi will host a second round of auditions at which the top 10 finalists will be selected, with the winner being offered $50,000 in cash, and a three-year modelling contract with Oluchi's O Model Africa Agency.
