Kampala — THEY are young, restless, lovesick and famished. Yes - famished (if you get my drift). Well, at least that's how they come off in trying to impress it upon us that they are worth Big Brother's sh170m jackpot.
And now that the M-Net reality show's stakes have gone a notch higher owing to the impending eviction of one housemate after another, each of the 12 participants is bent on fine-tuning their strategy and hoping it works a miracle and keeps them on the show long enough to win the jackpot.
The strategising got a real face over the weekend, with Tanzania's Latoya dumping Morris, the Ugandan who has been her day-time love-interest, and then shifting allegiance to Angola's Ricco, with whom she has been moonlighting behind Morris' back.
And although she claims the reason she has dumped Morris is that she was afraid of falling in love, my guess is that it's her strategy to stay in the game.
Since housemates had no clue that Morris' impending eviction as of yesterday was a fake, Latoya thought she would be the next, in the event that Morris was shown the exit.
So by dumping him and getting romantically involved with Ricco, who is now head of house owing to a puzzle task he won on Friday, Latoya figured she would be safe since the head of house has the power to save her in order to enjoy the romance more.
But she was wrong. Morris is still in the house and she's already missing him, yet the Ugandan likes himself enough to get the target lover out of his life so easily - after all Mimi, the Ghanaian and Botswana's Tawana also have the hots for him.
And now that many housemates feel sorry for Morris who has had a troubled week of impending eviction along with a broken heart, chances are that he might not get nominated in tonight.
With Ricco being head of house and the fact that he 'hates' the Ugandan, the Angolan might use his privilege and replace a nominated housemate with our boy.
But with South Africa's Thami likely to be on the list of possible evictees, Morris still stands a chance of staying in the house. And maybe Ricco might not put Morris on the list because he has issues to sort out with Nigeria's Uti, who confronted him on Saturday asking him to stay away from Latoya for Morris' sake.
Ricco also has interests in Namibia's Lucille and might want to get Zimbabwe's Munya out of his way to get Lucille. With Ricco's unpredictability, we cannot be sure what to expect.
But we can at least bank on Africa not showing Morris the exit just yet - at least with Thami still in the house.
Also expect things to blow up in Ricco's face, especially after kissing both Latoya and Ghana's Mimi at a few hours' interval on Saturday.
We all know that hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Catch the nomination show tonight on DStv Channel 198 at 9:00pm.
