Nigeria: Hole in the Heart Girl Receives N850,000 Aid

Succour came the way of a four year-old, Ireoluwa Gbadamosi who was diagnosed with "hole in the heart" when the chairman of Ijebu East local government area of Ogun State, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye presented her with a cheque for N850,000.

Little Ireoluwa who has poor parents that could not afford her medical bills, would need the money for urgent surgery, required to correct her heart defects in India.

The cheque was presented to Ireoluwa's mother, Mary Gbadamosi, at the General Hospital, Ogbere, headquarters of the local government.

According to Oladunjoye, Ireoluwa's case is one of several pathetic cases usually brought to his attention by needy families on daily basis.

He said he was moved to pity when he read her mother's letter requesting for financial assistance for her treatment abroad.

"Since no amount of money can be bigger than human life, no matter how old or influential the person involved is, I decided to assist," he added.

Ireoluwa's mother, a single parent and an unemployed teacher, disclosed that her daughter was diagnosed of the ailment at UCH, Ibadan, when she was barely a year old.
