In recognition of the First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar'Adua's contribution to the well-being of the girl child and children generally, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NWAOJ) has put together an investiture ceremony to confer her with the BEACON of HOPE AWARD.
Making this known in a release, NAWOJ president, Fatimah Abdulkareem, disclosed that the event which holds on Thursday, August 25 was in appreciation to the First Lady's contribution and success to the girl child project.
She also disclosed that the ceremony will also feature among others a lecture, dinner and citation of the First Lady.
"The First Lady has shown more than a passing interest in the welfare and well being of the girl-child and children generally, as well as to the Nigerian woman especially as it concerns the eradication of AIDs, poverty, maternal mortality, poverty and unemployment.
These are noble things she is involved in and we are giving her the award to encourage her to be steadfast and to do more." Abdulkareem said.
The NAWOJ president affirmed that the First Lady has accepted the award in a letter signed by her senior special assistant to the First Lady, Dr. Asma'u Abdulkadir.
