It's business as usual between Mosele Legal Services and Botswana Insurance Company after Export Insurance and Credit Guarantee Company Botswana (BECI) took over as Mosele's new underwriter.
"We are at peace, and everything has been sorted out," said Base Sebonego of Mosele in an interview.
BECI came to the rescue of Mosele after the end of an ugly spat between the legal services provider and its former underwriter, Botswana Insurance Company.
Sebonego said they signed the contract with BECI in July. BECI is a Botswana Development Corporation (BDC)-owned company, which, among other things, offers credit insurance.
Sebonego admitted that the break down in their relationship with BIC caused uncertainty among policyholders, but they managed to return their clientele.
"Obviously they were confused about what was going on, but most of them came to us for clarification and we assured them that everything would be sorted out," he said.
He, however, said after BECI came on board, they have decided to move on and concentrate on consolidating their market share in legal insurance service provision.
"We will soon introduce new legal aid schemes and open new branches," Sebonego said.
Mosele plans to open branches in Palapye, Kanye and Gantsi. He said they have introduced a group legal scheme and that several companies have shown interest in the product.
Mosele first hoarded headlines when their relationship with BIC soured and the two started to trade accusations and counter-accusations in the media. The row ended up in court. A forensic auditor was appointed to help investigate possible money laundering by executive directors of the company - Sebonego and McBain Kaang.
"What we have learnt from this is that business relationships have differences, but how you solve them amicably is the most important aspect," Sebonego said.
