The Nigeria Police Force has solicited the support of the Spanish government on forensic technology.
Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro told the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Angel Losada Fernandez, who visited him in Abuja, that the Police Force is seeking the assistance of the Spanish Government in the training of its personnel and provision of equipments, especially forensic technology.
He said provision of facilities as well as professional tips on forensic sciences to the Nigeria Police will certainly address problems in uncovering a number of crimes and guide the police in unbiased investigations. Okiro said the Nigeria Police will cooperate with the Spanish Authorities in controlling illegal movements of Nigerians into European countries. He assured Nigeria is safe for foreigners to do their businesses and call on Spanish companies to invest in Nigeria. In his address, Ambassador Fernandez, said his visit to the IGP was to identify areas of cooperation between Nigeria and Spain particularly on security matters and also to reciprocate the visit of the IGP to him, a couple of weeks ago. He said there are considerable improvements on the activities of the Nigeria Police in cubing crime. The Ambassador offered the IGP an invitation to Spain to go and identify those areas which the Nigeria Police needs assistance most with a view entering bilateral agreements.
