Nigeria: A'ibom Creates Website

A new interactive website has been created by the Akwa Ibom State Government.

The website, which has attracted over 4,000 visitors in the last 40 days, was made known to LEADERSHIP in Uyo by the Commissioner for Information and Social Re-orientation, Mr. Aniekan Umanah.

The traffic, which has attracted a highly informative site www.governoorakpabioinaction.com stated the commissioner, is a reflection of the popularity and support which the Akpabio-administration enjoys globally.

Recent data covering July 20 - August 30, 2008, according to Aniekan Umannah, shows that the figures will be higher in the coming months as many people and institutions seek to interact with it.

Meanwhile, data also showed that most visitors who spent an average of nine minutes on the site were attracted to the 2008 Akwa Ibom in USA section.

Other areas of interest to many people include the photographs and achievement of Akpabio's administration as highlighted in his just-concluded congress of the Akwa Ibom State indigenes in the United States of America at which he was the special guest of honour.

The data, he further stated, showed that most visitors visited the website from 20 countries including Philippines, Turkey, United States, Canada, Nigeria, Germany, France, Zambia, Egypt, Sweden, and many others.

These, the commissioner said, would enhance good governance and sustainable development in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria and the globe.

"We have nothing to hide, that is the reason we have gone global so that people can get in touch with us to verify any matter concerning the state through the web, he stated."
