Arusha — Pre-wedding mutual gatherings, known locally as 'Kitchen parties,' are entering new phase in Arusha. Some organizers are alleged to import female strippers from Dar to 'light up' the events.
The strippers whose main antics include dancing naked are said to be paid plenty of money for putting up saucy shows during the events whose 'official' purpose is to prepare the brides for matrimony. Such gatherings usually take place in the absence of the grooms.
Local 'kitchen parties' are in most cases organized by the brides' families with intention of teaching their daughters how to behave properly at her future home once married. However, recent observations have revealed that friends of the brides have been taking over the events transforming the once educational parties into lewd in-door scenes
"Some kitchen parties are more lavish and expensive than the send-off ceremony or wedding events," said an observer who preferred anonymity. She revealed that such 'preparatory parties' would sometimes last for the whole night with parents, mostly aunts, being briefly invited at the beginning and allowed to leave a few hours later.
After the parents have left, the brides, their friends and other invited people launch into all-night shameful events that may sometimes include raunchy scenes and stripping. The fund raising is also done aiming at equipping the particular bride with enough kitchen utensils (thus the name kitchen-party) but during such collections betting is involved including daring some girls to strip.
It has been discovered that, a number of 'kitchen parties' are increasingly becoming secret parties.
Of late some patrons in the orgies have been taking pictures and videos of the events using their mobile phone cameras, images that have started to circulated from one person to another via Bluetooth or infra-red transmissions.
It has also been discovered that, of late 'organizers' of these events, in order to outshine each party due to increasing competition, have been importing dancers from Dar-es-Salaam.
Apart from nude dancing girls' brought into town to 'entertain' male patrons, the gender is increasingly being balanced as well, with the latest addition of muscular male weight lifters who are reported to display their pecs appeals to the delight of ladies in the companies.
There are as many kitchen parties as there are weddings in Arusha which means in one week there could be around twenty such events on average.
Imported strippers are said to earn from Tsh. 2 million and above per group normally consisting of between four and six members.
"I doubt if the type of performers seen on local parties are Tanzanians; I think they are Congolese because nobody born around here could do what they normally do in the name of entertainment," our observers commented.
As more nude dancing pictures keep being shared between people, local students are increasingly trying to outshine each other by coming up with new 'features' every week and exchanging them with friends in class via their cellular phones.
