Sierra Leone: UTB Opens Outlet At Brooksfields

Abdul Karim Koroma

8 September 2008

Union trust bank, UTB Saturday opened its new outlet on Main Motor Road, Brooksfields, opposite Youyi Building for easy provision of banking and western union funds transfer services to the public.

UTB chief executive officer Sanpha Koroma said his bank was a reputable indigenous bank that provides banking facilities to the public.

Koroma said the institution was established during the rebel war, with the objective to promote communities through modern banking.

"The establishment of UTB's Brooksfields outlet will enable members of the public to do their banking transactions here instead of going to the city centre," he said adding that the rigors of accessing banking facilities in the city centre were now a thing of the past.

He lauded councillor Aruna Gbassay Kamara of ward 388 for playing a pivotal role in bringing the bank in his community.

"Union trust bank was established some 13 years ago and it is the people's bank." Councillor Kamara, who poured the libation, said he was glad that UTB has unveiled an outlet in his ward. He encouraged the community to patronize the bank.

Abdulai Turay, one of the bank's senior mangers said UTB was owned by Sierra Leoneans and that the commissioning of the bank would help people in the Brooksfields community send and receive money with ease.
