Uganda: Rising Production Costs Push Construction Prices Higher

Kampala — Volatile fuel prices and weakening dollar have pushed price of various construction materials high, affecting profitability of the construction sector. According to dealers in construction materials, the increasing cost of production has forced them to increase price, negatively impacting on sales.

A report from Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), a statutory body charged with compiling statistics on different sectors, shows that prices for construction materials rose by approximately 16 per cent in the last 14 months.
