South Africa: JSE on the Blink Again as Global Equities Surge

Johannesburg — THE JSE jumped 3,01% yesterday as global equities surged, but traders said gains were hampered by a prolonged shutdown triggered by technical problems on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

Trade on the local bourse was halted at 10.24am, and resumed only at 5.20pm. Trade normally closes at 5pm.
