Angola: Home Minister Inaugurates Police Stations in Luanda

9 September 2008

Luanda — Angolan Home minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", Tuesday inaugurated a fire service and two police stations in Luanda's high density suburb of Cazenga.

The police stations (15th and 18th) are under the 3rd division of the National Police.

On the occasion, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo" said that constraints caused by shortage of urban infrastructures in Cazenga has been keeping the police and the public somewhat apart.

He said the just-inaugurated police stations will increase the trust of the public in the corporation and its services.

On the other hand, the minister said the fire station will permit a rapid intervention in the zone, as it is equipped with means to help with natural disasters that can eventually occur.

At the end of the ceremony of inauguration of the stations funded under the Government's Investment Programme (PIP) for the 2007/2008 period, the minister handed over equipment to the fire service station.
