Nairobi — Kenya Airways will start flights to Congo Brazzaville following an air transport agreement signed between the two countries on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Ministry of Transport headquarters at Transcom House, minister Chirau Mwakwere said the agreement was the fourth since July. The others are with Uganda, Yemen and Burkina Faso.
"These reviews and the conclusion of new agreements are aimed at opening up opportunities and expanding the route networks for our local operators," he said.
The minister said Kenya Airways had continued to expand its flight destinations, currently serving 43 routes both international and domestic in over 36 countries in Africa.
The agreement was signed by Mr Mwakwere and Congo Brazzaville's minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Mr Emile Ousso, who denied reports that their airspace was unsafe, adding that his country hosted other major airlines such as Air France.
