THE NRP Builders squash doubles tournament was held at the Wanderers last weekend and was described as a resounding success.

Pairs of players (teams) contested for the coveted championship titles in the mixed doubles, men's doubles and women's doubles.

The players battled through tough encounters playing on average four matches per category.

Most players participated in more than one category which had the mixed doubles as well as either the women's or men's categories.

These players played at least eight matches on the day with each match being scored best out of three games (American scoring up to 15 points).

The teams that were victorious in their respective categories played five matches in each category: three round-robin games, one play-off game and then the final matches to determine the champions of each category.

Squash in Namibia is developing into a popular sport with passionate supporters and players engaging developmental initiatives, which include the creation of platforms for players to put their skills to the test in competitions sponsored by local organisations.

NRP Builders sponsored a highly successful tournament on Saturday with pairs of players putting their physical, technical and psychological skills to the test against players ranked in divisions of more or less equal strengths.
