Freetown — Ace reporter Concord Times newspaper has left Freetown to participate in a week long discussion, training and research programme organized by the Norwegian Foundation for Investigative Journalism (SKUP) in Lillehammer, Norway.

Rachael Horner works as a senior reporter with one of Sierra Leone's leading newspapers and the 2007 award winning medium for human rights reporting.

It is expected that over 500 journalists from all over the world would meet and discuss issues concerning corruption in government and private institutions.

Horner is the only journalist and the first female practitioner from Sierra Leone to have participated in this year's global investigative journalism conference which would deal with war on terror, money laundry, climate change, corruption among others.

"I am honoured to be part of this year's conference, considering the fact that Sierra Leone is one of the countries in the West Africa sub-region where corruption is endemic. Corruption destroys the fabric of development in any nation. I am pleased that my country is the first among those invited. As journalists, we have significant role to play in ensuring that issues like democracy, good governance and human rights are maintained," she said.

Just before she left, Horner promised her editor Tanu Jalloh that she was going to represent Concord Times Communications and the country to the best of her ability.
