Ghana: Omatek Launches New Smartbooks

The Computer giant, Omatek Computers Plc has rolled out a series of new products into the IT space and other sectors. First to be unveiled as part of activities marking the company's 21st anniversary celebration was the Omatek 8in and 10in Smart books.

The products were described as representing the result of outstanding research towards providing solutions to end-users.

The Smart books, which have been described as an improved version over the earlier editions were unveiled by the Nigerian Minister of Education, who was represented by Dr. Uwen Asomugha, while the Nigerian Minister of State for Information and Communications, Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande and the Minister for Science and Technology, Mrs. Grace Ekpiwere, were among other special guests at the function.

The 8 inch Smart book has a capacity for wider interactivity for Students and Executives alike, and comes with long range wireless antenna, 512 MB RAM memory, 60 GB HDD capacity, 4 in 1 card reader and webcam.

While the 10 inch Smart book is reputed to be the most classic, and replaces the tablet notebook, with its lightness comparable with any notebook in the world. It is equipped with external CD Rom, Bluetooth, Webcam, wireless LAN, 1GB RAM, 80HDD and has a long battery life span of 4-6 hours

According to the Managing Director of Omatek Ventures Plc, Mrs. Florence Seriki, the key feature of the new Omatek Smartbooks is that they are light- slim-built and therefore easy to carry around for both lecturers, students and especially for note-taking at meetings/classroom.

They are also quite affordable owing to Omatek's resolve to constantly provide practical innovative IT solutions that both teachers and students can deploy effectively for learning. The Smart books also have an aesthetic value as they come in various attractive colours such as pink, yellow, white, orange, etc.
