Holland-based Sierra Leone international, Gibril Sankoh still plans to play for Leone Stars, says his younger brother Prince Sankoh.
Though he failed to make it for last weekend's Leone Stars/Equatorial Guinea match in Freetown, Prince said Gibril Sankoh has promised to honour the national team's call-up very soon.
After Leone Stars' 2-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea, Sankoh called to congratulate the team and even talked to the coach.
"He was happy to hear the result. Two hours after the match, he called to congratulate the entire team," Prince said adding that personal reasons prevented him from coming for the Equatorial Guinea match.
"Even Mohamed Kallon, Leone Stars captain knows my situation. After going through it, I will definitely turn-up for my country, let people don't say I'm unpatriotic," Prince quoted Sankoh.
It was also revealed that Sankoh's rift with his club has been settled with a salary increase after the intervention of his Italian agent, Vennon.
Sankoh was said to have gone on strike after his club, FC Groningen's blocked his dream move to PSV Eindhoven.
The 25 year-old defender was a one-time player at Kennemers and Stormvogels Telstar in Holland.
