South Africa: Matching Investment With Market Demand

Johannesburg — ROSSLYN-based trailer maker Afrit has invested R80m in new equipment and increasing the size of its facilities to cater for the jump in demand for trailers, in line with the growth in SA's truck market.

The family-based company, which has about 25% of the trailer market, has boosted output from 600 units in 2004/5 to a projected 3500 units for 2008/9. Production has increased from about three trailers a day to the current 19, the company says.
