The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence [CMI] yesterday started investigations into the alleged assault of Mr Ssebina Ssekitoleko by President Museveni's special adviser on security in Buganda region, Brig. Kasirye Ggwanga.
Mr Ssebina, an aide to Security Minister Amama Mbabazi, yesterday made a statement before the Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) at the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence headquarters, Kitante in Kampala.
He claims that he was assaulted by Brig. Gwanga following a verbal altercation over the National Social Security Fund-Temangalo land saga, involving the security minister.
Daily Monitor exclusively reported yesterday that Brig. Ggwanga on Tuesday allegedly slapped and threatened to shoot Mr Ssebina at Metro FM where the latter had gone to defend Mr Mbabazi's at a late night political talk show in Old Kampala.
Mr Ssekitoleko has since recorded a statement referenced SD 105/09/09/2008 at Old Kampala Police Station. Brig. Ggwanga has since denied slapping Mr Ssebina, saying nobody would stop him from criticising Mr Mbabazi.
Daily Monitor has learnt that Mr Ssebina, who was invited by CMI head Brig. James Mugira, was interviewed among others by the SIB Deputy Director, Maj. Naboth Mwesigye.
Mr Ssebina confirmed he had recorded a statement at CMI."They mainly asked whether I had a personal misunderstanding with Brig. Ggwanga," Mr Ssebina said by telephone. Military spokesman Maj. Paddy Ankunda also confirmed that CMI was following the case.
