Kampala — AFTER the humiliating 3-1 defeat to Niger that virtually ended Uganda's chances in the 2010 World/Nations cup qualification, FUFA will part with $5000 (sh8.2m) to CAF in fines.

The continental soccer governing body has reminded FUFA to pay the money following four yellow cards Uganda accumulated during the game.

Geoffrey Massa, Andy Mwesigwa, Ibrahim Sekagya and goalkeeper Denis Onyango were all booked for unsportsmanly behaviour. Onyango and Mwesigwa will also miss the Cranes' last game against Benin in Kampala on October 12.

"We have to pay the money, there is no shortcut. It is meant to instill discipline in the players so we have no problem with it," FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said yesterday.

This is the second time FUFA gets fined after an away Nations Cup qualifier against Niger in successive campaigns.

In 2006, Massa and Mwesigwa were again victims with Timothy Batabaire and Noah Kasule completing the problem list.

The Cranes are expected to regroup early next month in preparation for the decisive showdown against Benin.
