Nigeria: Bayelsa Grab Ambrose, Keep Okonkwo

Bayelsa United have managed to secure the services of Olympic football team defender, Efe Ambrose, the club spokesman told KickOffNigeria.com.

The Olympic Games silvers medallist joined Bayelsa United from Kaduna United who themselves just regained promotion back to the Nigeria Premier League.

The CAF Confederation Cup campaigners were also able to keep hold of Chibuzor Okonkwo who scored for Nigeria in the 4-1 win over Belgium in the Olympic Games football semi final.

Two other members of the Olympic team who eventually did not make the final list, Okoro Osas and Bernard Okorowanta have also been registered by the club for he new season.

Osas was with the club last year while Okorowanted is returning home after a not too good sojourn in Israel.

The club also grabbed three players, Jonah Abutu, Emma Nwachi and Sele George, younger brother of former Super Eagles winger, Finidi George from neighbours, Sharks.

Media officer of the club, Ebi Avi told KickOffNigeria.com that they did not just rush into the transfer market when they had a good team that won them a place in the continent.

"As you can see we retained twenty two players from last season and we added five from our youth ranks so we have twenty seven who have been with for since last season.

"The new ones will easily blend and when you consider that our run on the continent starts in January you will see that we will be very ready then," Avi said.
