Freetown — Residents of Juba Hill and it environs has raised serious concern over the scarcity of pure and safe drinking water in their communities.
A resident of 65 Off Juba Hill, Pipe Line Suliaman A. Koroma told concord times that his entire community was suffering from lack of safe drinking water adding that, "We walk extra miles to fetch water." He said it was their hope that the APC government would provide sufficient drinking water for them but said that was not the case.
"We did not know what is responsible for the shortage of water in Juba Hill and it environs. We have reported the matter to guma valley water company," he said.
Koroma said guma valley has visited the community to see what was wrong and they promised to solve the problem.
"We have been in this problem for over five years and we cannot continue to suffer any more," he said.
Fatmata Kanu of Momoh drive, off Kanego said it was more difficult to get water during the dry season adding that they have to wake-up early in the morning to get water from neighbors.
"It is better for us during the Rainy season because we deploy our container to get sufficient water," she said.
A student, Simeon Kamara said he usually find it very difficult to go to school early in the morning because he work extra miles to fetch water.
"Some times the pressure of the water is too low and we want the government to fix new pipe for us," he said.
He said he has to make sure that their was sufficient water before he go to school adding that it was difficult for water to climb up the hills.
"Residents in Juba Hill and it environs cannot continue to live without sufficient and safe drinking water. We want the government to do something immediately to remedy the situation," he said.
