Angola: Wiza Postpones Music Show

12 September 2008

Luanda — The first live concert of the Angolan singer Wiza, which was set for last August in Luanda, will only take place in October due to shortage of funds, as well as lack of time of the special guest, Richard Bona from Cameroon, the artist said.

Speaking to ANGOP, Wiza said that there has been some delays from a few sponsors, which made him postpone the show, adding that he thinks that the problem will be sorted out at the end of September.

According to the musician, the organisers are making a lot of effort to have a positive answer from Richard Bona and his band in the next two weeks, and if they are not successful, the show will happen without him.

While we are waiting for the confirmation of Richard Bona, Wiza said, the Angolan musicians Paulo Flores, Nanuto, Dalú Roger, and Dodó Miranda, the Brazilian singers Maurício Pacheco, Daniel Jobim, Quarteto de Cordas and Malian Farakala Touré have already

guaranteed their presence.

The preparation of the concert is under the responsibility of "Maianga Produções", which intends to sell the admission tickets during the last week of September.

The show is expected to last two hours and songs from his three albums entitled " Kytsona", "África Yaya" and "Bakongo" will be played.

According to Wiza, this show will also serve to reinforce the harmony among national and foreign musicians for the development of Angolan music.

The singer started his music career in 1990 in Luanda where he participated in various children song festivals.
