Rwanda/Burkina Faso: Country up Against Burkina Faso

Kigali — Rwanda's U-17 football team will face Burkina Faso in the first leg of the second and final round of the African youth championship on the weekend of November 7-11.

The Junior Wasps who defeated Sudan to reach the second round on a 6-1 goal aggregate will face Burkina Faso who ejected Tunisia after a 3-1 victory in Ouagadougou over the weekend.

The Junior Wasps who recorded a 2-1 win over Sudan in the first leg will play the first leg in Ouagadougou before hosting the West Africans in Kigali a fortnight later.

In a related development, Rwanda is among eight countries that will take part in the two-week long U-17 regional soccer championships set for December 8-20 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Rwanda will go into this championship as favorites since it's the only East African country that has managed to reach the second round of the U-17 African championship.

Other countries expected to feature in the two-week event are Zanzibar, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Sudan, Somalia and hosts Kenya.

Meanwhile, Cecafa-member states Eritrea, Djibouti and Ethiopia are yet to confirm. Plans for the event are in the final stages according to the Cecafa secretariat.
