Nairobi — Newly appointed Central Bank of Kenya deputy governor, Dr Hezron Nyangito, on Monday assumed office at the CBK building.
Dr Nyangito, who was moved from the Medical Services Ministry as the Permanent Secretary to the CBK as the deputy governor, however, declined to answer questions from journalist.
The former PS moved into the office formerly occupied by her predecessor Jacinta Mwatela.
He promised to convene a press conference once he "settled down".
Mrs Mwatela, who declined her new appointment, is yet to report to her new office in the Ministry of Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands as the PS.
An official at her new office, at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), however said she was still expected.
Mrs Mwatela, an insider at CBK, has protested the transfer citing a breach of contract in transferring her from the bank.
She has had a long career at the CBK where she moved up the ranks to the position of deputy governor.
She was transferred last Monday in a reshuffle made by President Kibaki.
Also transferred were former Public Works PS, Mark Bor who was made it to the new Public Health and Sanitation Ministry.
The then Public Health and Sanitation PS, Dr James Nyikal was transferred to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development.
Environment and Mineral Resources PS, Prof James ole Kiyiapi was moved to Medical Services replacing Dr Nyangito.
Mrs Leah Gwiyo was also moved from Gender, Children and Social Development to the Ministry of Public Works while Mr Lawrence Lenayapa, a former administrator is the new Environment and Mineral Resources PS.
