Union trust bank, UTB Saturday commissioned its new outlet at New England Ville via Special Court to provide banking services to the people of that community.
The New England Ville outlet was the second business vent the bank has unveiled in less than two weeks.
UTB's marketing and business manager Kobi Walker who lauded the people of New England Ville for gracing the event said the bank is a national financial institution.
"The bank provides lots of facilities and that is why they are taking banking to the door step of the people of New England Ville community. We want to discourage the people to go to the city centre for a single banking transaction," he said.
Walker said UTB has provided Le 60 million to boost the country's educational sector. "This is a big boost. I am encouraging parents to open children savings accounts with the bank so that they too can benefit from the scheme," he said.
Dr. Sheku Kamara, UTB board chairman said the bank was trying to make business easy for its customers.
"The bank is owned by a Sierra Leonean. UTB takes care of the people's money and the opening of the outlets is to ease the burden on customers," he said adding that "your money is safe when you save your money at UTB and the bank has served the people of this country for over 13 years." Dr. Kamara said his bank has solutions to people's financial problems.
Chief executive officer of UTB James Sanpha Koroma said the bank was the first private bank owned by a Sierra Leonean.
"UTB is the first bank in the country that introduced the western union money transfer service and I am calling on all Sierra Leoneans to patronize the bank," he said Koroma said: "As Sierra Leoneans we should not sit by and allow foreign businesses to take our businesses in the country. Money is not meant to be kept in houses." UTB, he said, lots of banking services including current account, savings foreign, safe deposit box facility and export finance facilities.
