Lagos — The West Africa Polytechnics Games Association (WAPOGA) has announced a one week shift in the commencement date of the games' finals earlier scheduled to take place this week.
According to a release issued after the emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Games Association, held on Friday at the Sunyani Polytechnics, Ghana, the Games will now come up between 24th of this month and 1st of October.
Moreover, in another released issued by Nigeria Polytechnics Games Association (NIPOGA), the Nigerian contingent will depart the country for the games by road on Monday, 22nd of this month and transit at Sunyani and Kumasi Polytechnics en-route Institut National Polytechnique, Yamassoukro, Cote d'Ivoire venue of the games. Nigeria will be represented by 115 athletes and officials, with Yaba College of Technology presenting the bulk of the figure with 125 athletes and officials.
Kaduna Polytechnic and Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti tie in the second place, with 96 athletes and officials each. Yaba won the last edition in 2007 when it hosted the maiden finals.
