Harare — A RESOURCE centre aimed at creating an environment conducive for artistic exploration will soon be launched.

Dzimbanhete Art Interactions, which started as a young artistes' help centre, will be officially launched on September 27 at Dzimbanhete Gallery along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

DAI director Chikonzero Chazunguza said they had since started holding workshops in preparation for the official opening of the resource centre.

"We will be conducting workshops at our gallery on cardboard printing which is a new concept of making art in Zimbabwe that gained ground in Namibia where it originated," he said.

Ndashunye Shikongeni, a Namibian musician, would facilitate the workshop.Chazunguza said there would be 20 participants with 10 from Harare Polytechnic College and the others from the National Gallery School.

"Currently we are working with 10 artists, and the 11-day workshop will see students from Harare Polytechnic College as well as some from the National Gallery School acquiring information from the Namibian artist," he said.

The arts centre has been running for three years and the official launch will see various artists benefiting.

"Dzimbanhete has been in operation for three years and I appreciate that a lot of artists have been coming and we hope that they will continue coming. The opening of the arts centre is aimed at the creation of an environment conducive for artistic innovation and production," he said.

He added that the art interaction centre would go a long way in helping artists achieve their dreams.

This is a great step for us because we have always wanted to help upcoming and renowned artists realise their dreams as well as making it in the arts world, "he said.

The resource centre is situated at the 25km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road adjacent to Lion and Cheetah Park and is presently working with 10 artists in collaboration with Batapata International Artists Workshop.
