Harare — A SOUTH AFRICAN company, Azwi Development Agency, has nominated Deputy Minister of Information and Publicity Cde Bright Matonga for a leadership award.
An invitation letter from the agency confirmed Cde Matonga would receive the award.
"The advisory council on behalf of Azwi Development Agency has nominated Hon Deputy Minister Matonga to be the recipient for the year 2008. This is the fifth annual award, and these awards of excellence include: business, art, education, leadership, art, music, entertainment, culture, literature, sport and media."
He will receive the award in South Africa next month.
Cde Matonga said the award was a great honour.
"It is a great honour. It is not an award for me as an individual but for the ministry and the country. When I was defending the country I was doing it from my heart and I still believe it is the best thing we did, defending our sovereignty and our rights as Zimbabweans," he said.
Cde Matonga challenged public office holders to work hard.
"If we are given roles and responsibilities we have to work hard to achieve set goals," he said.
Azwi Development Agency was formed in 1996 and focuses on Land and Land Development.
The company acquires land for the landless and runs housing schemes for civil servants.
It started giving awards in 2005 in Pretoria and has so far recognised the works done by the Premier of Limpopo Mr Sello Moloto and many others.
