18 September 2008

Luanda — The Public Water Firm of Luanda (EPAL-EP) this Thursday announced the deactivation of the Kifangondo water treatment centre, System II, for eight days for the interconnection of pipes, mainly affecting Cacuaco district.

According to a note from EPAL-EP distributed to ANGOP, the System II will be inoperative from September 20 to 30 to enable the interconnection of the underground pipe with the existing pipe.

The interconnection of pipes will be carried out by Odebrechet construction company within the Kifangondo station and near Kicolo area, in Cacuaco district, and for the effect EPAL will start producing 210,000m3/day compared to the 270,000mm3/day.

As an alternative, EPAL points out to cistern trucks that regularly supply water in Cacuaco, water supply centres of Cazenga, Marçal and of the Luanda Harbour.
