Nairobi — Action in this year's Safaricom Festival of Golf switches to the South Coast resort of Leisure Lodge in Diani this weekend for the fourth leg of the national golf series.
A field of over 100 players was drawn to battle it out for the top prizes in addition to some slots in the national finals set for April 18 next year.
The event, which is open to all the Coast based clubs of Nyali, Mombasa, Malindi and hosts Leisure Lodge, follows the first three legs staged at Limuru, Kiambu and Kenya Railway Golf Club.
The format, as usual, will be stableford, off full handicaps and those drawn in the morning will be off at 8 am with the afternoon draw to start at noon.
The course at Leisure, which will early next month host the annual Kenya Airways Diani Beach Masters, is in great condition and all set to host this weekend's qualifier where among the prizes being offered will be mobile phones courtesy of the leading mobile services provider, Safaricom, which is also combining this year's series with tree planting.
Meanwhile, the 2008/9 Johnnie Walker Golf Series resumes also this weekend at the nine hole scenic golf course at Njoro. This will be the first time in the five years of the series that Njoro has hosted the qualification round.
