The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) is seeking to collaborate with private health establishments to provide standard healthcare delivery to residents of the city.
Speaking yesterday during a scientific interactive conference organised by the FCT health system development project 11 (World Bank assisted), the Secretary, Health and Human Services, Dr.Abubakar Ali Gombe, said private health establishments in the territory have what it takes to attain such standards.
Represented by the General Manager, FCT Health Management Board, Dr. M.A Mai, the Secretary said the aim of the conference is to interact with and bridge the gap between public and private healthcare practitioners in the territory and to proffer solutions to problems.
He said good health is an important factor in the achievement of Mr. President's 7-point agenda.
The FCTA, through the health and human services secretariat, is desirous of establishing and maintaining a high standard of healthcare delivery which guarantees FCT residents a social and economical productive lives."
Speaking, the Project Manager, Health System Development Project II, Dr.Jamilu Isa Yankwashi, said the conference is scientific and interactive because it seeks to address different issues through various presentations in the field of healthcare provision.
He said, "as you know the medical practice is dynamic. It is never static.
There are new trends and scientific discoveries in the treatment of particular ailments, so this scientific conference is meant to bring both the private and government healthcare professionals in the capital city to keep them abreast of the modern trends and challenges in the provision of an efficient healthcare service."
He said the conference will also enable the healthcare policymakers to interact with the private healthcare establishments who are many in number to have a synergy with the public practitioners for a better policy.
He said, "because of the importance of the conference, I didn't find any difficulty convincing the World Bank to fund the project because the whole essence is to complement the efforts of the FCT Administration in the provision of efficient healthcare system."
