Luanda — The Angolan veteran musician, Filipe Mukenga, defended in Luanda that the best way for the artistic class to pay homage and immortalise António Agostinho Neto is to sing his poems.
Speaking to ANGOP, in the ambit of 17 September (National Hero's Day), celebrated last Wednesday, Filipe Mukenga said that the deeds and poems of Agostinho Neto are motives of pride for any Angolan and this is why the artistic class should valorise the image of the first President of Angola.
"Naturally, singing poems written by Neto constitutes one of the ways to pay him a homage, but also following his example of dedication in finding solutions to Angola's problems, is also another way of paying tribute to this grand figure of our history" he stressed.
The themes of Agostinho Neto's poems are still up-to-date which makes the sung message more valuable.
According to the artist, the feeling of freedom, independence, of no man to man exploitation, humanism and equality, which were always defended by Agostinho Neto, should constitute a line of thought for any Angolan person.
