Kenya: Game Reserve Invaders Given a Month to Leave

21 September 2008

Nairobi — The government has issued a one-month ultimatum to Mt Elgon district residents who have invaded a national game reserve to leave or face eviction.

Western Provincial Commissioner Abdul Mwasera on Sunday told the Ndorobo community to leave the Kitalel game reserve.

Speaking at Toywondet primary school, Mr Mwasera also stopped charity organisations from supplying relief food, medicines and other items to people and IDPs living in the forests.

The PC asked local leaders to stop politicising security matters saying the government will not relent in fighting crime.
