Rwanda: Ruterana Chases FRW1 Million in Mbarara

Julius Mbaraga

21 September 2008

Kigali — Rwanda's professional golf ace Emmanuel Ruterana is using the Barclays Mbarara Golf Open as a weighing scale ahead of next week's Uganda Open; one of the region's most lucrative golf tournaments.

The BCR-sponsored golfer left Kigali on Friday and is currently one of twelve professional golfers competing in the two-day tournament which ends today.

In the absence of Uganda's golf star (Deo Akope and Godfrey Mande); the 24-year-old should have a relatively easy run at the refurbished Par 70 golf course. Shs 3m (Frw 1m) will be dished out to the top quartet.
