Kigali — After a woeful display on the European athletic event circuit this season that culminated in a disappointing eighth place finish in the just concluded Rotterdam half marathon, Rwanda's long distance ace Dieudonne Disi has switched focus to the 3rd edition of the IAAF World half marathon due in Rio de Janiero, Brazil on October 12.
Last month, Disi participated in the IAAF Grand Prix held in Brussels, Belgium and he clocked 28:00:81 to finish in 13th position.
With no win this year, Disi has now intensified his preparations to redeem himself by winning the country's ever silverware at the World half marathon due in three weeks' time.
However he will have to over the ever present threat of fellow East Africans, the Kenyans who have dominated long distances on the circuit.
Disi who has been racing in the European championships alone is set to be joined by local athletes in the Brazil.
Sylvain Rukundo, Alexis Nzeyimana, Jean Baptiste Simuceka, Gervais Hakizimana and Angelline Nyiransabimana are among the provisional athletes who will join Disi.
