Rwanda: Country to Start ICT Awards

Awards are great motivators. The latest award in Rwanda is the ICT Awards to be given to persons or groupswho have made great strides in ICT. The first edition of the ICT awards will take place in October.

The Awards will be organized by Rwanda Information Technology Agency (RITA), the brainchild of president Paul Kagame.

According to Nkubito Bakuramutsa director at RITA, the Intego Awards will promote ICT private sector innovation, entrepreneurship, and production of exportable products.

According to RITA website, Intego Awards will be celebrated on an annual basis.

The 2008 event will be held at a gala slated on October 31.

As envisaged in the NICI Plan, Rwanda National Awards of Excellence will be an annual, high profile event where the focus is on "achievements of Rwandan firms in the area of information and communication technology."
