Despite enjoying early good form in the Absa Premiership, Thanda Royal Zulu believe that they still need to reinforce their squad this season and have since turned to Burundi and brought in defender Banza Hussein.
Hussein arrived in Durban last week after being recommended to Thanda by soccer agent Joseph Cotty, who has also since expressed confidence that the 21-year-old Burundi national team defender will make his mark and win a contract with Amabhubesi.
"He has got all the qualities of a good defender and is one of the most highly-rated players in Burundi. He plays with Valery Nahayo of Kaizer Chiefs in the national team in Burundi and that itself shows that he is a quality player.
"Thanda has already expressed an interest in signing him, but I am still waiting for official word from them to discuss about his signature."
Thanda manager Thabang Gumede has already announced that they still have space to sign another foreign player and Hussein looks a likely candidate as he is also free agent.
Meanwhile, Gumede also expressed concern about the number of injuries in his camp ahead of the KwaZulu\Natal Derby against AmaZulu in Durban this weekend.
"Japie Motale, Katlego Loke and Norman Smith are all still nursing injuries, but we haven't lost hope that will recover by Saturday."
