Kampala — THE story of jazz music in Uganda has so far been one clouded in confusion. Book a jazz artist, over-hype the artist and concert with massive advertising and a high entry fee with emphasis on VIP treatment, and you will have the cream of Kampala's socialites eating out of your hands.
Next month's Amani Africa, the first of the annual jazz festival will provide a guide to for the appreciation of jazz music.
The festival has attracted big names like South Africa's Miriam Makeba and Oliver Mtukuzi who is back for another great performance. Third World Love will jet in from Israel for the Middle East sound.
In return, Uganda will give its best in the names of Isaiah Katumwa, Baxba Waves, Joel Sebunjo, the Sundiata Band and Soul Beat Africa.
At the festival, there will be the all night long jam sessions. Musicians will benefit more from the workshops that will be carried out at Ndere Centre. All that comes at a cost of sh20, 000 per day (October 10th - 12th).
The organizers, including WARID Telecom and Uganda Breweries, have spared nothing in attempting a perfect start for the Speke Resort Munyonyo bound festival.
