Latter Day Saints church in collaboration with the Freetown city council Saturday conducted a one-day cleaning exercise at the Victoria Park in Freetown.
President of Latter Day Saints' mission in Sierra Leone Philip Squire said the exercise was conducted jointly with the Freetown city council to complement its efforts in cleaning Freetown as cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Squire said cleanliness is wealth and it is part of Christian life. "We spent three hours to clean up the park so that it will look very beautiful. Last year we embarked on cleaning the Princess Christian maternity hospital (PCMH)." He said the church also donated pure water to several organizations across the country.
Sierra Leoneans, he said, are very friendly and peaceful people.
Emmanuel Saluki, the church's director of public affairs said the exercise was also designed to support safe community healthcare.
He said his church was also conducting the exercise in other parts of the world to protect people from diseases such as cholera and diarrhea.
