Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been told to take another look at the temperament and attitude of their players away from home in African club competitions after their latest trip on the road brought another red card.
Kwadwo Poku's sending off in Kotoko's 0-2 loss to JS Kabylie was the third game away from home that the Porcupine Warriors had been reduced to ten men.
And while some of the club's fans have heaped the blame on bad referees, Kwame Baah Nuako, the Communications Director says it is now time to do a critical internal assessment.
"We definitely have come to the point of taking a second look at discipline in the team. If it was in one match where we had a referee showing red cards, we might have explained it away but that is not the case and it cannot be that every referee hates Kotoko," he said.
"In the game against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi, we had four yellow cards; against Dolphins FC in Calabar, we had four yellow cards. In the Ittihad-Kotoko match in Tripoli, our captain was sent off.
"Three of our players were shown the yellow card in the same match. Osei Kwame was given the marching off orders in the game against Etoile du Sahel in Sousse. Last Sunday, Kwadwo Poku was also sent off. This may be an indication of a bigger problem."
"First, we need to take a serious look at the temperament of the players and their comportment. There must be something wrong with them. We will have to employ the services of a psychologist to observe them.
"That way we could identify exactly what is wrong. Player suspensions deplete the strength of the team and we must find an antidote to it immediately."
Kotoko have two games to save their Confederations Cup hopes in a group in which all four teams have six points and Baah Nuako is confident his side can make a fist of it.
